Outcomes
Star Home’s Hospital-at-Home Care allows patients less likely to experience complications such as hospital acquired infections and delirium (acute confusion) and less likely to be prescribed sedative medications or chemical restraints. In addition, it allows family members of the patients to experience less stress related to their loved one’s care.Patients and family members find the Hospital-at-Home Care to be very convenient. They found relationships with the physicians and other health providers more satisfactory and preferred the hospital-at-home services than acute hospital admissions. Patients find their home a mor comfortable setting in which to receive acute care. In addition, these patients are just as likely to meet illness-specific quality indicators as those treated in the acute hospital.
